Fewer animals in research

The number of research using animals has decreased by 30% in the last 30 years, according to a recent study. To achieve this conclusion, more than three thousand articles published in the main biomedical journals have been analyzed during this period.
On the other hand, it has been said that more and more alternative methods are being used, such as experiments in cell cultures. Attempts to develop new techniques have also multiplied and computer models could soon be useful. In addition, it is noted that in general the living conditions of laboratory animals have been improved.
However, some researchers consider that it is still an important field of work. In fact, there are animals that die before experiments are done and do not enter the statistics. In addition, there is not enough money to develop alternative techniques.
