Researchers at the University of Illinois have discovered the mechanisms by which substances containing red and brócolis wines protect from cancer.
The researchers already knew that broccoli sulforaphane and black wine revesratrol play against cancer. They have now shown that these substances give the signal to the body to produce some proteins: Keap1 and Nrf2.
When sulforaphanes or revesratrolalprimen bind the two proteins mentioned. Consequently, the protein-related genes that protect DNA from damage are activated.
According to researchers, it is very important to clarify the mechanism of the protein Keap1, which is what sets in motion the whole process. Knowing the substances that cause food, it is now possible to make medicines to get the same effect.
