Far away are the typical black and white radiographs. There are now better methods to explore within the body, such as computed tomography. This system allows you to accurately visualize organs and apparatus in real time.
Siemens has now developed a new tool to perform this type of tomography: Somatom Definition. The device is faster than a heartbeat and, in addition to being more accurate than so far, provides the patient with a lower dose of radiation (about half the normal).
Somatom Definition simultaneously uses two different X-ray energies. Soft tissues, bones and fluids are clearly distinguished. It therefore serves to improve diagnoses and, incidentally, is safer than conventional ones, since it provides lower doses of radiation.
