2010/06/08 Aulestiarte Lete, Izaro - Elhuyar Zientziaren Komunikazioa

The planet Jupiter has suffered a new cosmic impact, the third of the last sixteen years. Two amateur astronomers recorded the crash live: Anthony Wesley from Australia and Christopher Gok from the Philippines. Scientists continue to question whether the star that hit was the comet or the asteroid.

In 1994 he played comet Shoemaker-Levy 9 against Jupiter. The second collision suffered in July last year. The latter took place on the dark side of the planet (at night), so we couldn't see it live. However, it left a large black spot, which was also revealed by Australian astronomer Anthony Wesley. According to scientists, the last edition could be caused by an asteroid. The UPV Group of Scientific Planetariums has recently published the results of this research.
