They have created a database that will describe online the 1.8 million species that have been identified worldwide. It is known as the Encyclopedia of Life. It is not an empty list of species, since it will provide encyclopedic information of each species, with the intention of providing them with videos, sounds, images, graphics and texts.

At some other time, this type of project has been attempted, but they have finally been annulled for lack of resources necessary for their provision. That's the problem they see in this project: they are not very clear where they will get the money they need to keep it for a long time.
