The migration of insects is not as well known as that of singing birds, but, according to a study with skewers, it has similar characteristics. Like birds, brooches fly every three days as they are left to feed; both use the same routes to migrate, without flying when the strong wind blows and without leaving the coast to the sea. In this way, boats make long trips. Researchers have followed the footsteps of the U.S. east coast, from north to south, about 2,500 kilometers. To do this, they have installed radio transmitters to fourteen brooches that have followed them for twelve days.
