The United States is concerned about the danger that some species of the Mississippi River will reach the Great Lakes. Despite being far geographically, Mississippi and the Great Lakes are united in the 19th century. From the 20th century. At that time, Chicago was one of the most industrialized cities in the United States and all impurities were thrown into Lake Michigan. But when the lake was polluting, it occurred to them to take the impurities in another direction. To do this, they conducted a canal that ended in a branch of Mississippi, the Illinois River: Chicago River.

At first this river was very polluted, so it was not alive in it. However, from the 1970s onwards it began to clean and regenerate. But now they have seen that some species of the Mississippi have invaded the river and there is danger of reaching the Great Lakes. To combat it, different proposals have been analyzed and they have realized that the most effective thing is to kill all the living beings of Chicago. It is certainly a definitive solution.
