Elhuyar participates in the Astronomine project
2022/12/14 STEAM-Hezkuntza (Elhuyar Zientzia)
On 15 and 16 November 2022, participants from six European countries met in Dublin, Ireland, at the Drumcondra School at the first meeting of the Astronomine project.
Astronomine Erasmus+ is a partnership project for which alliances are formed, led by the Drumcondra Education Centre (Ireland). The other members of the consortium are Private School Themistoklis (Greece), NUCLIO (Portugal), Atermon B.V. (Netherlands), Hearthands Solutions (Cyprus) and Elhuyar (Basque Country).
This project has been supported by the Erasmus+ programme ‘Astronomine – Astronomy in Minecraft’. Its goal is to stimulate interest in STEAM issues among young people ages 9 to 12 and build knowledge about astronomical issues through the Minecraft game. In addition to astronomical knowledge, it will seek to develop transversal competences, such as logic, creativity and scientific thinking, creating different worlds of Minecraft.
The project officially started on 1 November 2022 and will continue for 24 months. At the launch meeting, the consortium leaders also presented the content, objectives, activities and work planned for the next 6 months.
The project website is also available at http://astronomine.erasmusplus.website/.
The game of astronomical games for 9 to 12 year olds will be published free of charge in 2024.
