The new road, which will supposedly unite San Sebastian with Pamplona, has provoked numerous scandals and protests between environmentalists and naturalists. On the one hand, the need for a double road as planned is questioned, and on the other, if its real impact has been measured in the last virgin valley of Gipuzkoa, Leizarán.

The new roads are also debated outside the Basque Country. A new road system is planned in London. The objective of this road system is to speed up traffic to the urban center. Before the transport department fully promoted the construction project of the new road network, it was considered appropriate to conduct a survey among Londoners about it. Although it has surprised a lot, Londoners do not agree with this project. Londoners prefer public transport, trains and buses, rather than expanding roads. In some neighborhoods in London, the number of applicants for better public transport has risen to 90%.
