It is known that SARS-CoV-2 is able to jump from one species to another. In fact, infections have been confirmed in 39 countries and 34 unvaccinated mammals. The most abundant have been in the cervids, but so far all have been found in North America. Now, for the first time, the infection of SARS-CoV-2 has also been confirmed in cervids, specifically in Spain and in two species: the amienail and the common deer.

Researchers have pointed out that at least wetlands were infected by human means, as samples were collected near Madrid and added to the high concentration of virus in sewage. The study has been published openly in the journal Transboundary and emerging diseases.
