There are many reasons for suicide, some obvious (such as economic failure) and others curious. So far, suicide was considered an action caused by external problems. However, in some cases, a survey conducted in the United States points to an inherited tendency toward suicide.
Janice A. Egeland and James N. Sussex doctors analyze an Amish community in Pennsylvania. 24 of the 26 suicides in this community have occurred in families with a depressive tendency.
The reason for choosing the Amish community is that they have a traditional life. These communities do not know economic or social stress and, as is known, are often closely related to suicide. Therefore, hereditary suicide factors could be more easily explained in this type of social medium.
