Britain became an island 425,000 years ago with the creation of the Manchego channel. Until then it was linked to France across the earth. According to a theory developed in 1985, the separation was caused by a flood. Now, a group of geologists from Imperial College London have discovered evidence of this. They are the remains of the seabed of the channel of the Mancha: remains of the erosion of the water and the movement of the stones.

Since the flood occurred, the canal has undergone numerous changes. Among other things, scientists believe there was a second major flood 200,000 years ago. In addition, during the glaciations the channel has dried due to the lowering of sea level. Therefore, sometimes the channel is submerged in the sea and other times it dries. However, geologists consider that the English channel was first born as a result of the flood of 425,000 years ago.
