These beautiful fossils that you can see in the photos are found in the Italian city of Verona. This small town can be proud of its magnificent collection of fossils. Around these fossils was opened the sixteenth oldest scientific museum in the West. In the twentieth century.
The first fossils of Verona were found in 1552. To date more than 10,000 fossils have been found and each year between 25 and 30 new fossils have been found. All of them come from a pit of Mount Bolca, 40 km from the city.
About 50 million years ago the Tetis Sea covered northern Italy and embraced the slopes of Mount Bolca. The climate was also tropical. Subsequently, the sliding of the continents dragged the fish to the east and the descendants of these fossil fish are found in the Pacific.
