SOI technology can open the way to new electronic circuits and sensors. In this technology, a layer of silicon (conductor) goes over an insulator. They want this layer to be as thin as possible, but the behavior of silicon changes as the thickness decreases (the resistivity increases a lot). Well, researchers at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and Soitec have seen the convenience of keeping both surfaces clean to maintain the original trend.
