Opentrad will be presented on the 30th in Barcelona

Opentrad is the first automatic system that translates from Spanish to Basque. In addition to translating texts and documents, it allows you to browse Basque through web pages in Spanish.

In addition to the Basque language, the automatic translator Opentrad translates Catalan/Valencian and Galician. These languages, like Spanish, are Romanesque, and translating is not as difficult as translating them into Basque. Therefore, within the Romanesque languages there is the possibility to translate texts, documents and web pages into Catalan/Valencian and Galician.

This project involved three companies and four universities, led by Eleka Ingeniaritza Linguistikoa S.L. In addition to Eleka, they have worked the Elhuyar Foundation and the software company imaxin|Galicia. As for universities, Opentrad has been present in the project the University of the Basque Country, the University of Alicante (Valencia), the Polytechnic University of Catalonia and the University of Vigo.

The result will be released on Tuesday, May 30, at 11:30 pm, in the Aula Master room of the Polytechnic University of Catalonia, in Barcelona.
