Three worm infections, prevent together
2008/04/01 Elhuyar Zientzia Iturria: Elhuyar aldizkaria
Infections of worms, which infect the intestines, lymphatic system, or blood vessels, are common in the tropics. All three types of infections are easily preventable by drugs, each with a drug. Thanks to a large trial conducted in Zanzibar, scientists have found that the simultaneous consumption of the three drugs does not produce serious side effects. They are cheap medicines, as they are doses of a few cents. The most expensive is the separation of medicines, which generates many problems in many villages. Therefore, the best thing in many cases would be to distribute the three drugs at once. But sharing means people would take it. That is why Zanzibar's research has been carried out and the result has been satisfactory: it has been shown that joint drug administration is a viable system.
