Scientists believe that etchings discovered in some of the caves of Cussac in southwestern France are one of the oldest found. There are more than 200 drawings covering more than half a kilometer in total. Although they were found in 2000, to date it had not been reported.
According to experts, they can exceed 30,000 years. If this is so, they would be the second oldest. The oldest engravings that have been found are 32,000 years old and are located in the cave of Chauvet-Pont-d’Arc, in the French region of Ardèche.
In the engravings found in Cussac you can see birds, mammoths and people. The images are well maintained and very special. People are represented schematically, so that to represent the body of the woman, for example, they only painted the triangle of the pubis.
