The sea carries sand

The ocean currents in Africa are sweeping the western coast and endangering tourism and industry in the villages of this region. The responsibility for this problem is due to an urgency of recent construction.

The Guinea current, one of the most violent in the world, is located on the coast between Bolicosta and Nigeria, and annually transports 1.5 million cubic meters of sand. This can be terrible for Ghana, Togo and Benin.

According to experts, the source of the problem may be at the Akasombo Dam in Ghana in 1961. The dam prevents the Volta River from carrying sediments to the sea. For this reason, it does not reach the coast who replaces the sand that carries the sea.

There is little trace of the Ghana Burning. This city, located 30 km from the mouth of Volta, has been devoured by the sea.

In addition, most of the coastal routes of Togo have been devoured by the sea. In 1984, in 24 hours, the sea ate 100 meters from the road between Ghana and Benin.

Experts, for their part, do not agree on the solution that can have this gigantic erosion process.
