Sea hot spots
2003/11/01 Elhuyar Zientzia Iturria: Elhuyar aldizkaria
Thanks to a new study, researchers have determined what are the hot spots of the sea. Hot spots are the areas with the greatest biodiversity, since their name has nothing to do with temperature. The researchers stressed the need to protect these hot spots, declaring them as areas without fishing, among others. In fact, at these points there are many species, but few specimens per species.
The hot spots of the sea are next to the coral walls, the sea mountains and the islands, areas where more food and habitats abound. In addition, most are between latitudes 20º-30º.
