New catalyst

1997/03/01 Elhuyar Zientzia Iturria: Elhuyar aldizkaria

The new catalyst, discovered at the University of Liverpool, allows the conversion of toxic organic waste into low-temperature ash. The catalyst is based on uranium oxide, which at a temperature between 300 and 400°C turns toxic chemical residues into ashes.

In addition, compared to the conventional catalyst, it is not so easy to poison. The components involved in this new catalyzing process are water, carbon oxide and hydrochloric hydrogen.

Experts in catalyzing processes consider the discovery to be very important, as the new catalytic combustion is effective, economical and safe.
