A metaphor of the strength of cooperation wins in the challenge of representing international science and engineering

Several fibres in the form of noodles, formed by self-assembled polymers, grabbed to a green ball. This is only seen in the winning photograph of the first prize in the photography category of the International Challenge of Representation of Science and Engineering. In this contest, organized by the journal Science and the National Science Foundation of the United States (NSF), it has not been awarded the prize so the photograph made with the electronic microscope an electronic microscope, but by what it declares.

Each fiber on its part has no strength, but the set itself is capable of supporting the sphere. The photo's author, Joanna Aizenberg, has stated that "each fiber represents a person or an organization, and the complete image reflects that if we make strength together we will be able to maintain the planet."
