An extensive study relates sleep in less than six hours after taking a chopo with the least antibody response. This study has collected and analyzed studies investigating the relationship between sleep and vaccine protection and published the findings in the journal Current Biology.
It is reported that an antibody level is similar to that of two months after the COVID-19 vaccine in case of poor sleep. However, lack of sleep is noted not only with COVID-19 vaccines, but also with other vaccines. In fact, they have mostly researched flu and hepatitis A and B vaccines. They have seen that in young men the incidence is more evident, but they have clarified that more research is needed to confirm it.
In women, the relationship between sleep and response is more fluctuating. Researchers believe this may be due to the influence of sex hormones. Therefore, it would be interesting to see how menstrual cycles, hormonal contraceptives and menopause influence. However, the studies they have studied did not measure hormone levels, so they could not draw conclusions.
In any case, they stress the importance of getting enough sleep before and after taking a vaccine.
