Magnetoencephalograph
2004/07/01 Elhuyar Zientzia Iturria: Elhuyar aldizkaria
The use of the magnetic field emitted by neurons to see the activity of the brain is possible thanks to a magnetoencephalograph in the form of a helmet. This tool shows the activity of the brain as it happens practically. The base of the tool is superconducting sensors, so it is necessary to keep them at temperatures below 8K for lead to be superconducting.
So far, attempts to measure the magnetic field of neuronal activity have failed because the signal is very weak and therefore interfered with other areas of the brain, that is, the signal sought by the noise of the area.
