It has recently been known that in the state of ancient East Germany, more than 5,000 miners have died in the last forty years. These miners extracted uranium and most have died of lung cancer. Apparently, the cause of these deaths has been radon and similar, high-radiation gases. This news appeared in the weekly Die Zeit and was based on research carried out in the mines of Wismut.

Martin Joensson, head of the company, said: It has been the biggest massacre in irradiation after Hiroshima. Perhaps only Chernobil will overcome this massacre.

According to this doctor, deaths recorded to date amount to 5,300, a figure expected to grow in the coming years. The effects of this irradiation should occur between thirty and forty years. On the other hand, it is confirmed that the maximum dose of irradiation was reached around 1950.
