An experiment in Germany can help patients who have suffered stroke. At least this is expected by the authors of the experiment, researchers at Ruhr University.
These researchers are studying the influence of magnetic pulses emitted in the brain. It has been shown that it is possible to excite and move a muscle group by applying magnetic pulses in the corresponding brain area. In addition, they have managed to increase sensitivity. The experiments have been conducted with healthy volunteers and the results have been very satisfactory.
Magnetic pulses stimulate the flow of ionic compounds in nerve cells, affecting brain activity. The technical call rTMS, repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation, that is, the stimulation experiment that crosses the skull has been a step forward to understand how the magnetic pulses act on the brain. Researchers want to understand the mechanism for testing it soon in therapy.
