Inauguration of the exhibition “NI STEAM Mujer” in Galdakao. This initiative is part of the agreement signed with Elhuyar by ten municipalities in the region of Nerbioi-Ibaizabal, which aims to awaken the interest of young people in the region for science and technology. The organizers of this initiative have been: Iñigo Hernando Arriandiaga, mayor of Galdakao, Amets Iturbe Bustillo, Galdakao Youth Councilor, Aitziber Lasa Iglesias, Elhuyar Education Coordinator STEAM and STEM women who have participated in the exhibition.

It is a itinerant exhibition composed of illustrations and texts of eleven women working or living in the Nerbioi-Ibaizabal region and working in the field of science and technology. Over the coming weeks and months it will pass through ten municipalities of the region. The Youth Councilor of Galdakao, Amets Iturbe Bustillo, has explained that in order to arouse interest in scientific and technological studies it is important to present real references and to publicize the work activity that takes place in the region. That's the goal of this exhibition.

In this work, Amets Iturbe added that the involvement of the whole community is fundamental: municipalities, Elhuyar, other municipal agents, schools and businesses. Natalia García Alfonso, High Level Mechanical Engineer of the Bridgestone plant in Basauri, has underlined the importance of the presence of women referent to the STEM and has recognized that throughout its trajectory it has not been too female referent. It has also stressed the need to promote such projects in order to open the way to young people and to see the many possibilities offered by these types of professions. It hopes that in the coming years there will be a change in this area and that there will be more and more women leading in different industrial areas.
