Incidents Nile
2001/09/10 Elhuyar Zientzia
The Nile River has a certain mystery or mythical character. But for those who live on its shores it is of vital importance, especially for the scarcity of water in the dry territories it crosses. The flow fluctuations are also of great importance for the fertilization of the coastal lands, although sometimes it can cause misfortune. This year the waters have grown much after the rainy season, unlike the last two decades, which has caused many people to have lost their homes in the north of Sudan, especially in the surroundings of Khartum.
The photographs have been made by the cameras of a NASA satellite through a multiangular spectroradiometer. Terra is located in the satellite and takes images from nine angles, obtaining a very good resolution. The photographs have been made this year and last year, before and after the rains of this year and last year.
