Two new satellites named in Pluto

Although discovered last year, the International Astronomy Association has recently named two Pluto satellites. The names P1 and P2 of the catalogue become Nix and Hydra respectively. So along with Karon are three known satellites of Pluto. Nix and Hydra are names of Greek mythology, such as Pluto and Karon. Pluto was the god of the underworld, Charon took to Pluto the souls of the dead, was the mother of Nix Karon and Hydra, the nine-headed serpent, was an underworld.
