Press in silence

2005/10/01 Elhuyar Zientzia Iturria: Elhuyar aldizkaria

They have found ‘silences’. In particular, a group of astronomers from the Jodrell Bank Observatory (UK) have detected eleven clicks ‘isil’ using data from the Pulsar Survey.Pulsar Multibeam Parkes is the first time these strangers are detected. As the name ‘isil’ itself indicates, they are very difficult to detect. Unlike conventional pulsars, every few minutes (or several hours) only a small beep is emitted, and it is very difficult to distinguish this signal from the other signals coming from space.
