What happened in November 1986 on the Rhine River was sad and unfortunate news, due to the poisoning of the water due to the Sandoz house. This turbulent event has revealed the greed of the authorities of the villages that are located on the side of the river and want to implement a strategy of cleaning the Rhine river.

This strategy will have three phases. In a first phase, the measures to be taken to reduce the concentration of the largest contaminants will be analyzed. In a second step, the discharge of contaminants will be paralyzed and measures will be taken so that there is no accidental discharge. This phase is intended to end by 1995. Finally, at the end of the third phase it is intended that in the year 2000 the waters of the river are clean enough to accommodate the salmon.
