To arouse young people's interest in STEM, it is appropriate to present young people with the most real image of STEM and professionals. And the stereotyped image of STEM professionals causes many young people to dispose of STEM studies.

International studies and surveys conducted by Elhuyar in the Basque Country have shown that young people consider professional STEM to be <<very fast>>>>, <<apprentices>> and <<friki/geeks>>>>, so they conclude that <<neither am I so for me>>>. Therefore, it is not very likely that those who do not consider themselves to be one of the <<smartest> of school, which is usually the majority, want to study sciences.

On the other hand, problems of equity and, above all, gender are evident, even at early ages. In addition to the characteristics mentioned above, most consider the scientist to be male and white. Consequently, girls choose less than boys STEM studies, but one of the highest girls of the day has a more enjoyable science in their childhood. At the same time, young people with high or very high level cultural capital at home are more likely to opt for a STEM study.
