Researchers have been looking for artificial nose for some time. There are already sensors that separate odors, but they are not as sensitive as you want. Now, to get a better artificial nose, the dog snout has been taken as a model.
Researchers at Tufts University in the USA believe that the dog's olfactory capacity is related to the structure of its end. Dogs and other mammals have a labyrinth structure in the nose; through computer scanners, this internal structure of the dog has been copied into plastic material, where the sensors have been dispersed.
The result has been very good: this artificial nose is 10% better than conventional sensors to differentiate the odors of rum and vodks. Other researchers have shown that the flow of air taken through the nose also influences; changing the flow of air has managed to improve the result.
