Butterflies and moths in the network

Of all insects, possibly butterflies and moths have been the most investigated. However, scientists have not so far managed to make a complete catalogue. And no wonder, as there are about 137,000 species around the world.
Now, the Natural History Museum of Great Britain and the University of Essex have taken a step towards properly cataloging species of butterflies and chickens. Within the VIADOCS project, the species collected in several museums have been included in a catalogue. To do this, they have created a special program. According to those responsible, to manually enter into the database what is in the museum archives would need 430 years. With this program, however, they have managed to carry out this work for three years.
The database has been installed on the Internet, which allows experts to have a useful tool and, of course, that fans can enjoy many species from all over the world. To see the catalogue click here.
