XXI. Longest solar eclipse of the century

XXI. In Asia they have enjoyed the largest solar eclipse of the twentieth century. Specifically, it lasted 6 minutes and 39 seconds – the last total eclipse of the Sun that occurred in August 2008 lasted 2 minutes and 27 seconds.

On Wednesday morning they were able to see India for the first time in the east and then throughout India, Nepal, Burman, Bangladesh, Bhutan, China, Japan and the Pacific.

Solar eclipses allow scientists to see the gases surrounding the Sun or its crown. Next July 11, 2010.
